The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has developed a series of worldwide “Weather Reports” for the year 2050 to highlight our future and bring attention to the changing climate.
I support their efforts. I also believe they do not go far enough in their reports. So, as you might expect, The Climatebull has its own version. (For those of you not up on the latest technology for communication in 2050, I will provide a text translation as well as source.)

The cumulative worldwide death toll from climate change topped 290 million people in 2050, says the 2050 LNG Report issued by the Link Now Group. This year’s death rate of 19.8 million people has been questioned by many sources. Despite a sunnier 2051 forecast of only 13 million deaths worldwide, the result of international action on refugee resettlement. Stanvard’s research arm, Thinktank Inc., though critical of the report, accepted the 2050 report after issuing a statement saying, “The death toll amount can be considered a 500 year event.” The US Department of Commerce remains mute on the topic saying it is studying the report.

The 2050 report also states more than 60 percent of deaths will occur in developing countries, says a report that calculates the human and economic impact of climate change on 189 countries and the 9 Regions-Of-Wilderness (ROW) on the planet.

The LNG report then states that global economic growth declined by 7.1 percent in 2050. While 14.2 percent of annual gross domestic product (GDP) is now being spent on the impacts of climate change, “…Losses will more than double by 2100 if global temperatures are allowed to rise,” say the report.

Temperatures have already risen by 2.2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial times–this despite the Keystone (Conference of the Parties) accords of 2025. Agreed to by almost 200 nations, the Keystone COPS to limit the global average temperature rise to below 2C (3.6 Fahrenheit) has had limited success due to a lack enforcement. Other negotiations have also stalled, including efforts to pass “The Greenhouse Laws” and their enforceable mechanisms to limit the emission GHGs by nations, individuals, and industry.

Despite widespread support from the population, “The Greenhouse Laws” have been held up in every remaining nation. Stalled by well-coordinated lobbying efforts that brand the laws a regressive economic nightmare, “The Greenhouse Laws” are considered by others to be a viable option for avoiding collapse.

The Link Now Group estimates the cost of moving the world to a low-carbon economy, via Greenhouse-Law mechanisms, at about 3.4 percent of GDP per year. They also point out the number is lower than the 5.1 per cent mentioned in the Keystone COPS of 2025. A less optimistic comment comes from the same anonymous climate researcher, “At this point, insofar as ‘The Greenhouse Laws’ are concerned, what are you trying to save? Think about it, GHG output will fall dramatically as we enter the neo-dark ages of the next 50 years. Then, assuming we survive that, we’re still waiting another 20 – 40 years for the storms to dissipate–so we can begin industrialization again. Seems pointless to me…”

The LNG report concludes with a statement on life expectancy. Claiming that life expectancy worldwide will fall to 40.2 years; critics have questioned the validity of the entire report, due to its huge swing in life expectancy from previous reports. The LNG report from 2040 had pegged worldwide human life expectancy at 51.3 years.
